Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (PG)
Directed by: Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson
Starring: Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld
Review by: Julian Wright
Following on from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, we pick up on a new adventure with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld).
While still coming to terms with his secret identity, Miles encounters various Spider-Men and Spider-Women across multiple universes in this mind-trippy, thought-provoking and cerebral adventure that appeals to the whole family.
The artistry is unmatched – this is a comic book film brought dazzlingly to life. This film demands and deserves multiple viewings to fully appreciate each beautifully designed and drawn frame.
But you can’t just have a visually stunning film, you need substance to hold it up and complement it – and this film does.
Into The Spider-Verse gives equal attention to character, spectacle, charm and originality for a winning combination that proves that there is still space to revisit and reboot franchises, so long as there are people with imagination behind them and studios support them.
